JOB REQUIREMENTS
Senior Lecturer
PhD degree in any related study in higher education with at least five years or more experience working in a higher education institution or seven years of professional experience in the relevant field. Experience as an Educational Development Practitioner and a Postgraduate Diploma in higher education (PGDIP HE) for Academic Developers will be an added advantage.
Lecturer
Master's degree in any higher education qualification or related. At least 3 years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or 5 years of professional experience in the relevant field. Experience as an Educational Development Practitioner and a Postgraduate Diploma in higher education (PGDIP HE) for Academic Developers will be an added advantage.
DUTIES:
The Educational Development Practitioner will, amongst other duties, be responsible for developing and implementing institution-wide academic staff and student support & development programmes such as First Year Experience(FYE), Orientation for undergraduates and postgraduate, Academic Writing, Academic Skills, mentoring and tutoring (MENTUT) programmes, Postgraduate support, Teaching portfolio development, facilitation of annual Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Awards, facilitation of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) programme, staff support & student support and development transformation, innovative assessment practices, Siyaphumelela initiative, work-integrated learning(WIL) as part of community engagement and any other academic staff development programmes that the institution will mandate. The candidate will also be expected to collaborate with other support sections responsible for staff development in the institution.
Stay informed of trends in instructional methods and educational technology. Assist university teachers or academics in incorporating new technology into their lessons. The candidate is also responsible for writing funding proposals related to staff and student support & development matters.
